On Saturday, October 3rd, 2025, at the Thalpos Building in Nea Makri, a painting workshop was held as part of Mental Health Month.
The event ran from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and brought together ten women of various ages, who, through colors, brushes, and personal expression, managed to capture emotions, thoughts, and images that “spoke” to them.
Participation was free of charge, a choice that reaffirmed the organizers’ intention to promote accessible art and creative expression as means of supporting mental health.

During the workshop, each participant had the opportunity to work freely—whether a beginner or experienced—on pieces that reflected her inner journey. Painting served as a refuge for expression, a language without words, where colors and forms became a vehicle for self-discovery and self-healing.
The artist Barbara Gerodimou
The event was facilitated by painter Varvara Gerodimou, who guided participants with techniques, advice, and encouragement. Gerodimou is an artist with over 30 years of professional experience in Greece and has exhibited both domestically and internationally, including at the Beijing Biennale. Her artistic approach combines traditional materials with modern lighting technologies, giving her works a sense of depth and movement. Every Tuesday and Friday afternoon, she conducts a painting workshop for adults at the Office of the "Dikastiki Ypallili" in Schinias.

Thalpos Mental Health
Thalpos Mental Health is actively engaged in the field of mental health, offering residential facilities, as well as prevention and social reintegration programs. The Day Center in Nea Makri has recently celebrated two years of successful operation, making it a fitting choice for hosting the event.
The space itself offers warmth, comfort, and natural light — elements that enhance participants’ sense of safety and relaxation. In situations where mental health and creative expression meet, the presence of a welcoming, inspiring, and non-pressuring environment becomes truly essential.

The event was a co-organization between Thalpos Mental Health and We Love People, with the kind participation of artist Varvara Gerodimou, who volunteered her services, and was held under the auspices of the Municipality of Marathon.
